Answer: The EQ-300-85 contains 17lbs of KDF85 in the top tank, approximately 825 cubic inches. The bottom tank has coconut shell carbon, bituminous carbon and catalytic (Centaur Carbon). As long as the pre-filter is changed on a regular basis, the filter should not get clogged up. Most of the dissolved natural minerals simply pass through the filter and keep the water alkaline.

Answer: As far as water pressure reduction after installation of the Rhino EQ-300 Whole House Water Filter System, very minimal change happens. Most homes have water pressure of about 85psi, and this unit will drop the psi to 80 after installation. As long as your home is smaller than 3200 sqft, you shouldn't experience any significant change.
Question: Does my Aquasana AQ-4000 Drinking water filter remove nitrates?
Answer: The Aquasana AQ-4000 drinking water filter does not remove nitrates. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) states that nitrates only pose a possible threat to infants that are 6 months or younger. If there is no one of that age in your home, you should be ok.

Answer: We can install a .35 micron post filter after the Rhino EQ-300 Whole House Water Filter. This post filter further reduces the aragonite, which is what the Rhino EQ-300 transforms calcium into to prevent scaling, by 40-60%. This post filter further enhances the quality of the water in your home. The post filter comes in 2 assembly sizes 3/4"(EQ-300-35) or 1"(EQ-300-35.1). The cost of the unit is only $120. The replacement filters(EQ-PFC.35) are $29.95 and last 4-6 months. Call 1-800-658-8081 for more details.

Question: Does the Aquasana Rhino EQ-300 Whole House Water Filter soften water?
Answer: Unlike softeners, which use salt to soften the water, the Rhino actually changes the molecular structure of the calcium in the water. The calcium is changed into aragonite, which is a triangle shape instead of the square shape of calcium. The aragonite's shape prevents it from building up and reduces scaling in your showers and sinks.
Question: Does the Aquasana Rhino EQ-300 Whole House Water Filter remove iron?
Answer: The Rhino EQ-300 Whole House Water Filter does remove iron from treated tap water.
Question: Does the Aquasana Rhino EQ-300 Whole House Water Filter work for well water?
Answer: The Rhino EQ-300 Whole House Water Filter does work for well water. If you have excessive iron, sulfur, or hydrogen sulfide in your water, you will have to upgrade to the Rhino EQ-300-85 Whole House Well Water Filter, which is specifically designed for common well water problems. The Rhino EQ-300-85 Whole House Well Water Filter works the same as the regular Rhino EQ-300 Whole House Water Filter as far as upkeep, warranty and prefilter usage. Just call 1-800-658-8081 so that we can help determine which Rhino EQ-300 Whole House Water Filter unit is right for you.

Answer: If you are still having problems with iron, you might need to add on a green sand unit in addition to the Rhino EQ-300-85 Whole House Well Water Filter, which would reduce the iron in your water by an additional 4ppm. Just call 1-800-658-8081 for questions concerning our green sand unit.
Question: Does the Aquasana Rhino EQ-300 Whole House Water Filter system filter out TTHM's and chloroform?

Question: Do Aquasana water filter products remove fluoride?
Answer: Both the AQ-4000 Drinking Water Filter and the Rhino EQ-300 Whole House Water Filter will reduce fluoride by 40-60%. This is accomplished with the activated coconut shell carbon. Activated carbon will remove 2 of the 4 fluorine isotopes, which will typically lower fluoride levels to below .5 ppm.
Question: How do I remove the A-cartridge from the Aquasana AQ-4000 Drinking Water Filter if it is stuck?
Answer: Because it is very important that the A-cartridge not be bypassed by the untreated water, the AQ-4000 Drinking Water Filter forces a strong seal on the A-cartridge. If you are having difficulties removing your A-cartridge, all you need to do is fold up a towel on your kitchen counter, and with the A-cap removed, give the filter a light tap on the counter, and the cartridge should jump right out. If this does not work for you, please call our 1800 number at the top of your screen.
Question: If I'm the only one using the filter, can I wait 12 months to change the cartridges?
Answer: The AQ-4000 Drinking Water Filter is certified to treat 500 gallons, which means that we had to prove the performance through 1000 gallons to give you a built-in safety window. Even a family of 6 is unlikely to use a full 1000 gallons in a six-month period. Carbon is the building block of life, and will allow bacteria to colonize on its surface as soon as it gets wet. Unlike the AQ-4100 Shower Filter and Rhino EQ-300 Whole House Water Filter, which use KDF-55 (55% copper, 45% zinc), the AQ-4000 Drinking Water Filter does not contain anything to inhibit bacteria growth. We no longer use KDF-55 in drinking-water filters because high levels of copper are not good for the brain. Some companies use silver to prevent bacteria build-up, but recent studies have shown that silver has similar health effects to lead. Silver collects in the left testicle or the left ovary and can cause hypertension, brain damage, and other negative health effects. Companies that use silver in their cartridges must register their products with the FDA as a pesticide. Because there is nothing toxic in our cartridges to prevent bacteria growth, the AQ-4000 Drinking Water Filter will reach detectable levels of heterotrophic bacteria after 7-8 months, and dangerous levels after 12-14 months. To prevent bacteria build-up, the AQ-4000's water filter replacement cartridges(AQ-4025 Replacement Filter)should be changed every 6 months, regardless of use. The KDF-55 used in the AQ-4100 Shower Filter and the Rhino EQ-300 Whole House Water Filter prevents them from growing bacteria, so a single person using the AQ-4100 Shower Filter System can go 8 months between water filter replacement cartridges, and the Rhino EQ-300 Whole House Water Filter can be used until your water bill shows that you've used over 300,000 gallons.
